Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), launched the fifth and final exhibition, entitled “Saudi Archaeological Masterpieces Through the Ages,” at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, California, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Among the attendees of the inaugural session of the exhibition were Prince Naif bin Salman, Saudi General Consul in San Francisco Dr. Faisal Al-Sudairi, Jay Shaw, director of the Asian Art Museum, businessmen and a number of Saudi students.

Addressing the inaugural session, Prince Sultan affirmed the care given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to the Kingdom’s national heritage and civilizational identity.

He also appreciated the support being rendered by Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, and his continued efforts in the preservation of heritage.

Prince Sultan said the exhibition is primarily meant to introduce to visitors the history of the Kingdom and successive civilizations on its land and reflect the Kingdom’s civilization dimension alongside its religious, political, and economic identity.

Several US citizens were honored during the exhibition for their role in returning Saudi relics (artifacts) to the SCTA to be shown in Saudi museums. Likewise, a number of Saudi and US firms were honored for their sponsorship of the exhibition in US cities, the Agency said.

For his part, the director of the Asian Art Museum expressed pleasure over hosting the exhibition in the city and said it was an opportunity to get to know about the history of the Kingdom and its vital position as the cradle of Islam and focal point of Muslims worldwide.
