Police have arrested 706 illegal expats in Madinah over the past week.

“Police and other security forces have arrested more than 31,400 illegal workers since the campaign against labor and residency law violators began across the region,” said Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam, Madinah police spokesman, on Monday.

The inspections were supervised by Maj. Gen. Abdul Hadi Al-Shehrani, Madinah police director, who urged citizens to cooperate with police in the drive against illegal workers.

He also thanked security officers for their efforts in making the labor drive a success. The operations aimed at arresting illegal expats who had failed to legalize their residency status.

Arrested violators have been referred to authorities for punitive action and deportation.
