The Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) on Wednesday warmly welcomed Sweden’s historic move to recognize Palestine, saying it would strengthen business relations with Saudi Arabia.

At their meeting at the CSC, Abdulrahman Al-Zamil, CSC chairman, delivered a letter of thanks to the Swedish ambassador to the Kingdom, Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt, for Sweden’s support to the Palestinian cause for an independent state.

Sweden has also become the first member state of the European Union to officially recognize the Palestinian state.

“This is a positive move, which will also be appreciated by all Arab and Islamic countries, while contributing to achieving peace and stability for the Palestinians,” said Al-Zamil during his meeting with Swedish envoy.

The CSC head also praised Sweden’s historic stance toward the Palestinian issue and underlined the Swedish ambassador’s keenness to promote relations between the two kingdoms in various fields, especially the economic domain, and his regular contact with the CSC.

The meeting also touched on several issues related to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in trade and investment and working to overcome obstacles faced by investors in both countries. These include grant of visas and the need to ease the process in order to promote business relations between the countries.

The two sides also discussed practical steps to establish the Saudi Arabian Business Council and expressed the need to expedite the formation of such a council as a vital mechanism in promoting trade and investment relations.

The Swedish ambassador expressed his happiness over the growing rapport between the two kingdoms for development and prosperity. He noted that the business sector in Sweden is looking forward with great interest to enhancing growing trade and investment ties with the Saudi business sector since the Saudi market is one of the largest and most important markets in the region.
