The Minister of Justice Mohammed Al-Essa held talks with his South Korean counterpart on issues of common interest in Seoul recently.

Al-Essa was on an official trip to Korea where he met with the president of the South Korea National Courts in Seoul.

The talks centered on the judicial sector of both countries including guarantees for trials of the accused in criminal cases and access to the services of judicial experts provided by government agencies.

The two sides stressed the importance of exchanging expertise and experience in this area.

Al-Essa briefed Korean officials on the Saudi leadership’s ongoing projects to develop the judicial facilities in the Kingdom, including the technical aspects of court procedures, training and careers in the judicial sector and the expansion of special courts for specialized cases.

He also presented the Saudi legal system and the professional freedom enjoyed by Saudi lawyers locally and internationally.

Al-Essa said that the justice system in Saudi Arabia is institutionalized in the modern concept of the state and guarantees the independence of the judiciary in its workings.

He also dwelt on the concept of the Islamic Constitution or Shariah adopted by the state.
