Patrols thwart attempts to smuggle hashish in Jazan

Security patrols in the Jazan region have foiled attempts to smuggle a total of 54 blocks of hashish on two separate occasions in the Al-Harth and Al-Tewal provinces.

The media spokesman for the branch of the Mujahideen Police Patrols in Jazan, Khalid Abdullah bin Kuziez, said that patrols in the region have managed to capture smugglers themselves, as well as to seize large quantities of hashish from the streets.

The first operation was thrwarted in the Al-Harth province, resulting in the wounding of one smuggler and the seizure of 30 blocks of hashish, while the second operation took place later in the Al-Tewal province, within which 24 blocks of hashish were confiscated.

In the past year alone, Jazan Mujahideen patrols have arrested 27,165 illegal workers from various nationalities and 1,023 smugglers, in addition to 67,147 rounds of live ammunition, 1,338 assorted weapons, 1,954 bullets, and 12,190 cartons of illegal fireworks.

During this year, patrols also confiscated 371,652 packages of qat, weighing a total of approximately 154 tons, as well as 5,158 blocks of hashish, 1,332 Captagon tablets, and 2,368 alcohol bottles weighing 77 tons, collectively. Patrols also booked 2,247 vehicles used for trafficking, in addition to the confiscation of 186 motorcycles, and SR5,265 cash.
