Deputy Crown Prince Muqrin, second deputy premier, has urged all government bodies to switch to electronic systems, saying that they cannot have any excuses for delays because the state has poured massive resources into these new technologies.

Prince Muqrin made the comments in a speech during a ceremony to mark the Saudi e-Government Achievement Awards. He said that the move to electronic systems would help accelerate the country’s development.

He said the awards were important to ensure recognition for the importance of these systems in the effective running of government services for the people. This initiative stemmed from the vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, he said.

He said that the leadership of the country is pursuing massive development projects that have been recognized worldwide. “We are here today to celebrate the fruits of these development projects that have been implemented by the joint efforts of our children and citizens across the many sectors in the country, including the government, the private sector and the community,” he said.

The ceremony was held at King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh.
