Taif student hospitalized following vaccination
A female student who was administered the wrong vaccination in her school was admitted in critical condition at Al-Hada Military Hospital in Taif recently.
Khaled Al-Shehri, a relative of 12-year-old Thikra, demanded an investigation saying that she had gone to school after breakfast and was fine until then.
Thikra, who is in the fourth grade, was administered two vaccines during a vaccination campaign against smallpox and meningitis at the school.
Al-Shehri said to local media that Thikra vomited after receiving the vaccinations and fainted. He added that the headmistress told him that the doctor administered a third injection to revive Thikra but when her condition worsened, she was rushed to the hospital in Al-Hada. “She was admitted to the emergency division at Al-Hada Military Hospital and according to the initial diagnosis, there was a sharp decline in her blood circulatory system and Thikra was having difficulty breathing,” Al-Shehri said.
