If Narendra Modi is the ‘Man of Action’ then cricketer Rohit Sharma is the ‘Man of Records’.

In the news is Rohit Sharma — that guy who’s hit two double centuries in One Day Cricket, making him the hottest sensation ever. In fact, Sharma is one of the most sought-after cricketers in India. Captain of the IPL team — Mumbai Indians, this Mumbai boy is equally crazy about films as he is of cricket. In an interview recently to a leading magazine, Sharma opened up about his love for Bollywood and said, “I’m crazy about Kareena (Kapoor).” And, if he gets any film offers he would like to have Kareena as his co-star!

Bollywood and cricket, have been creating a ‘double dhamaka’ very often. Bollywood’s svelte beauties have always had a soft spot for handsome cricketers, who sweat it out on the pitch. While a few couples in the past have proved that the Bollywood-cricket alliance can be successful, the current brigade seems to be taking this path as well.

This young cricket hero has fame, name and of course, the power to wield the bat; and, that’s why our Bollywood beauty was derailed by his charm. Here, we are talking about the much-hyped couple — Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. It seems they first met on the sets of a shampoo ad, about a year ago and soon word was out that they bonded instantly. They have connected like yin and yang and have been inseparable ever since. Though they have yet to declare that they are in a relationship, the chemistry between them is clear and evident for all to see as they celebrate their birthday together and even fly to foreign destinations to keep each other company. She was even called the ‘First Lady of Cricket’ on the famous talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’.

If rumor mills are to be believed, Yuvraj Singh was quite a Casanova before he was diagnosed with cancer. Not that he’s any less charming now; but we gather he’s currently focussing on getting his career back on track (before having his way with the ladies)! He has been linked with models and actresses like Kim Sharma, Deepika Padukone and model Aanchal Kumar. Controversial bowler Sreesanth too was linked to ‘Hate Story 2’ actress Surveen Chawla before his fondness for Riya Sen came to the limelight. Geeta Basra, who used to be seen in Bollywood movies managed to get written about more for her alliance with Harbhajan Singh, than for her films.

Also, yesteryear actresses like Sharmila Tagore and Sangeeta Bijlani, the former was happily married to the King of Cricket Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and the latter to former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin, respectively.

It was with the advent of the ‘hot’ Indian Premier League, that clinched a close connection between Bollywood divas and cricket. While some, like Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty and Juhi Chawla have become the co-owners of IPL teams, many others have been coming in large numbers to support teams. Some have come under the radar due to many their alleged affairs. But only a few have managed to uncover a great deal of media curiosity due to the glamour attached to both the professions.
