A young Saudi entrepreneur who heads one of the fastest growing companies in the Kingdom believes that hard work and dedication are the keys to success in business.

Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Bawardi, founder and chief executive officer of the firm Tadawulat Foundation and Tad Environment, made the comment here during a recent speech at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). In addition, Al-Bawardi has also set up Tad Logistics in Dubai.

Addressing a gathering of young businessmen, Al-Bawardi said access to funds is important but not the most crucial part of a successful enterprise. He said he comes from a middle class family and started his business with virtually nothing. He said his company ranked 23rd among the 100 fastest growing Saudi companies in 2009 and works in 17 countries around the globe.

He said the company was approved by the United Nations and the US Department of Defense to handle hazardous waste worldwide. He said Forbes Middle East magazine has described him as one of the most creative entrepreneurs in the environmental field.

He said his company owns the biggest Middle East chemical products warehouses in Jebel Ali, Dubai, covering an area of 65,000 square meters. He plans to construct warehouses in Jeddah and Dammam over 80,000 square meters.

Bawardi gave a detailed account of his business experiences, including selling used cars, operating laundries, investing in stocks, sales, and running a printing press. He was sent to the US to obtain a master’s degree in project management.
