National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, who is on an official visit to the United States, met Wednesday with Saudi scholarship students pursuing higher studies at US universities and institutes.

He commended the King Abdullah Foreign Scholarship Program, saying it would bring about a qualitative improvement in the Kingdom’s educational sector.

Prince Miteb said the Saudi government had given top priority to education as it believes that education is the key to development.

He urged Saudi students to return to the Kingdom after obtaining their degrees to participate in the country’s development process.

“Every Saudi student abroad represents the Kingdom and its people and they should rise up to this trust and responsibility,” he said.

Prince Miteb urged Saudi students to follow the teachings of Islam and not to be lured by destructive ideologies. The National Guard minister is visiting the United States in response to an invitation from Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
