National Guard Minister Prince Miteb bin Abdullah met with US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to discuss matters of common interest between the two countries at a meeting in Washington.

Prince Miteb also held talks with US Senator John McCain. “The prince’s visit reflects the depth of friendly relations between Saudi Arabia and the US in all fields,” McCain said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the meeting.

Prince Miteb started his official visit to the US on Tuesday at the invitation of Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

Adel Al-Jubair, Saudi Ambassador to the US, was present at the meeting held at the prince’s residence.

Prince Miteb also attended a dinner held by the ambassador in his honor.

Several US officials and members of the Saudi diplomatic mission in the US attended the reception.

Prince Miteb is expected to hold further talks with top US officials during his visit.

The US administration appreciates the role of Saudi Arabia in addressing the situation in the Middle East, Prince Miteb told reporters in Washington following his meeting with US President Barack Obama.
