SCTA closes tourism centers for violations
Inspection tours of 216 facilities that were recently conducted by the Saudi Comission for Tourism and Antiquities in Riyadh, including 213 accommodation facilities and 48 travel agencies and tour operators, have resulted in the closure of a number of unlicensed facilities, and facilities in violation of operation laws.
The director general of the commission’s branch in Riyadh, Saad Al-Muhanna, said that inspection tours enforce and ensure all safety requirements and regulations are being met in order to maintain the safety and the rights of citizens, as well as preserve the rights of licensed facilities for fair competition.
Al-Muhanna said that the closure of these facilities was a final resort after all necessary statutory procedures had been completed, including giving violating companies a grace period of more than six months to correct their errors.
