Egypt court sentences 185 to death for attack on police
An Egyptian court setenced to death 185 citizens on Tuesday on charges related to the so-callded ‘Kerdasa massacre’ in which several policemen were killed in 2013.
The convicts were charged with terrorism, murder, damaging public property and possession of weapons following the overthrow of former President Mohammad Mursi last year.
The government has mounted a fierce crackdown on Islamists since July 2013.
Thousands of Brotherhood supporters are in jail and the state crackdown over the past year has expanded to include liberal and secular activists who played a leading role in the 2011 uprising that toppled Husni Mubarak.
