The Council of Ministers, chaired by Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, on Monday approved the Kingdom’s agreement with Delhi for recruitment of Indian domestic workers including maids.

“The agreement aims to protect the rights of domestic workers as well as their employers and regulate the contractual relationship between the two parties,” said Haj Minister and Acting Information Minister Bandar Hajjar.

It also aims at organizing the recruitment process and controlling the cost of recruitment in both countries. “It stipulates that such domestic labor shall have no criminal records, be trained in specialized centers in household works and educated on the Kingdom’s customs and traditions as well as the terms and conditions of the employment contract,” Hajjar said.

He said the Cabinet also approved new regulations for employees managing public funds. According to the new regulation, each ministry, public institution, public body or the like shall use electronic means to control inputs and outputs of funds.

Prince Salman earlier briefed the ministers on the outcome of the talks between Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev, and his talks with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Tomasz Siemoniak.

The Cabinet wished all success for the GCC summit in Doha under the chairmanship of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the emir of Qatar, while commending the group’s achievements in the past years. The Cabinet was briefed on the agenda of the two-day GCC summit.

The Cabinet welcomed the statement issued by the international coalition against ISIS terrorist organization at the conclusion of a meeting in Brussels, emphasizing its resolve to defeat the terrorist group and reduce its capabilities.

The council of ministers was briefed on a report on the Kingdom’s humanitarian contributions as it provided assistance to people in need through several programs and committees. The Cabinet thanked King Abdullah for his order to provide SR358.39 million urgent aid for poor families in the northern regions of the Kingdom.
