The municipality’s recent clamp down on eateries violating health regulations led to the shuttering of several restaurants, whose names where also published in the media.

The chamber heard the investors’ complaints and demands. The investors claimed that closure of errant eateries or naming them will permanently damage their businesses.

After inspecting various restaurants and food facilities, accused of poor hygienic practices, the municipality decided to shut down more than 30 such establishments due to health concerns.

According to officials, these inspections are far from over, as the municipality continues its campaign against grubby restaurants.

The Jeddah municipality has stressed that it will not be lenient with those establishments violating health regulations, and called for public cooperation in reporting such cases.
