Education Minister Prince Khaled Al-Faisal has endorsed a special program for female teachers who work far away from their homes and must travel long distances to teach. Prince Khaled approved a three-day week for these teachers, as part of the government’s efforts to minimize their exposure to traffic accidents.

The new system would be implemented in the primary section from the second semester in the current year. The minister held several meetings in recent weeks with members of a committee to find solutions to a problem that has long worried female teachers.

A number of teachers have been killed or critically injured while commuting from their distant homes to schools in recent times. The growing pressure from the educator’s sector, forced the government to deal with the issue and find solutions, without adversely affecting the school work.
