India is preparing to set up centers for crash courses in the Arabic language in cooperation with the Kingdom in order to equip Gulf-bound workers with the knowledge of Arabic.

Hussein Madavoor, the new president of the Asian Chapter of the World Association of Humanitarian Organizations, told Arab News that he had discussions with the King Abdullah International Center for Arabic Language Services, headed by Abdullah Saleh Al-Washmi, seeking its cooperation to set up such centers in all parts of India to help workers to fit into their respective vocations in the GCC states.

Madavoor was in the Kingdom to attend the 9th ‘Saudi Malyalee Qur’an Knowledge Contest” held in Riyadh under the patronage of King Khaled Foundation.

He noted that the Arabic language centers were the need of the hour to equip workers planning to work in Arab countries with the required language skills.

“Such centers already exist in China, Japan and Korea while the UK is also planning to run these training programs,” he noted.

He said that the knowledge of Arabic will bridge the communication gap between the employer and the employees, pointing out that most labor issues occur due to poor communication skills between the sponsor and his employer. “Such communication will also help for an effective cultural exchange between Arabs and non-Arabs living in this part of the world,” he said.

He said that the first center will be opened in the Indian capital of New Delhi as it is home to several foreign missions from Arab countries.

“It will be easy to hire teachers on a part-time basis for the Arabic language courses since there are a large number of Arabic teachers working in the Saudi and Sudanese schools based in New Delhi,” he said.

Madavoor was elected the new president of the Asian Chapter of the World Association for Humanitarian Organizations two weeks ago. He was also among the 100 special guests for the Haj 2014 hosted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah this year.
