The suicide attackers who killed three Saudi soldiers this week have committed a “heinous crime” for which they would be punished in the Hereafter, said Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Asheikh, chief of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Haia).

“The killing of our officials is a heinous crime against the security and stability of the Kingdom and its people,” he said recently.

Al-Asheikh said the Qur’an makes it clear in several verses that those who kill believers intentionally would have to face the wrath of God, including punishment of an abode in Hell.

He said terrorists are enemies of the nation but would not succeed in their agenda because the country’s rulers and people followed a constitution based on the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

“This unprovoked attack was contrary to religious and moral values and reflects a deep-seated malice in the hearts of the perpetrators. They do not respect the sanctity of life,” he said.

He urged the nation’s people to stand up to those who target innocent civilians. He said Saudi Arabia, which has the two holy mosques, protects the legitimate rights of all people.

Three Border Guard officers were killed Monday in a rare suicide attack by terrorists on the Kingdom’s border with Iraq. Four attackers were also killed in the clash. Two died from detonating explosive belts, while the other two were shot dead by Saudi officers.
