Indian engineers pose for a group photo with Saudi guests and Consul General B.S. Mubarak at an event organized in Jeddah recently.

The Indian Engineers Forum (IEF) celebrated its annual event by holding a seminar on risk management at the Consulate General of India, with Indian Consul General B.S. Mubarak as the chief guest, and Faiz Al-Abideen and Fahad Ali Muttawa as the guests of honor.

Addressing the gathering, Mubarak appreciated the IEF’s activities aimed at upgrading fellow engineers by conducting seminars, lectures and workshops. He advised engineers to join the Saudi Indian Business Network (SIBN) and contribute toward the development of both India and Saudi Arabia.

IEF President Mohammad Sayeeduddin in his welcome speech referred to the “Clean India” and “Make in India” campaigns initiated by the Indian federal government. “Make in India” is an international marketing campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a view to building the best in class manufacturing infrastructure.

“The cleanliness drive is long overdue in India. While aiming to become the world power, we should address certain basic issues, including lack of amenities like clean water, electricity and sanitation. It is said 60 percent of rural population does not have toilets. In this regard engineers need to come out with innovative ideas for providing public toilets and bathrooms in villages,” he said.

Fahad Al-Muttawa said Indian engineers are well known for professional commitment and hard work and have earned appreciation for their services to the Kingdom. Al-Abideen thanked Indian engineers for their tremendous support in developing the Kingdom for over four decades and shared his experiences about his visit to India.

Farooq Quraishi in his presentation described risk management as an emerging profession and said the failure rate of projects across the globe is quite substantial, causing an irreparable loss to the nations. The top management of many enterprises has now realized the importance of risk management and is supportive of it as a main ingredient in planning and controlling the project.

IEF’s annual magazine was released by the chief guest, with Muqtadir Adil, vice chairman of the electrical committee, conducting the session.

Mementos were presented to the guests, speakers and sponsors, while an award was presented to Ajaz Hussain for training IEF engineers. Anwar Pasha, chairman of the electrical committee, conducted this session.

The guests and speakers were introduced by Razziuddin owais, Nayeem Qureshi, Abdul Rahim, Ubaid Quraishi and Mustafa Khan.

Mir Ateequr Rahman, executive vice president, called on engineers to join the IEF. Abdul Rahim conducted an interactive quiz session.
