The Cabinet on Monday passed an important executive bylaw that regulates criminal procedures in the country including the investigation and arrest of suspects, search of persons and homes and obtaining evidences.

The Cabinet, which was chaired by Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, extended its condolences to families of security officers who were killed in a terror attack in Arar.

Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Al-Khodairy said the Cabinet denounced the attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris and described it as a heinous crime.

The crown prince thanked the heads of state who have contacted him to be reassured about Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah’s health. He also appreciated the noble feelings expressed by Saudi citizens toward the king.

Al-Khodairy said the Cabinet also appreciated the king’s annual address to the Shoura, which was delivered by Prince Salman on his behalf. It hailed the king’s assertion that Saudi Arabia would defend its economic interests and international position. The Cabinet commended the Shoura’s achievements and contributions to the Kingdom’s development through its constructive initiatives, wise opinions and successful recommendations.

“This has made the Shoura an important partner in the development process being witnessed by the Kingdom,” it added.

The minister said that the council expressed deep concern over the suffering of the Syrian refugees due to the severe cold wave which has exacerbated their suffering, especially the children, women and the elderly, stressing the need to stand with them, and provide necessary assistance to them.

Speaking about other Cabinet decisions, Al-Khodairy said it endorsed the security cooperation agreement with the Comoros. Under the accord the two countries will cooperate in the fight against crime in all its forms and manifestations, and cooperate in the field of security training.

The Cabinet approved another agreement between the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities and the Ministry of Tourism in Greece. It authorized the minister of labor to discuss with the Moroccan side a draft agreement with Morocco for cooperation in the labor sector.

The Cabinet appointed Sultan bin Abdullah Al-Sultan ambassador, Mohammed bin Hussein Madani minister plenipotentiary, Khaled bin Mubarak Al-Mubarak minister plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed Al Fehaid chief justice register at the Ministry of Justice; Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Moghames chief justice register; Salah bin Al-Sadhan director general of the Islamic affairs minister’s office; Khaled bin Ibrahim Almarshoud director general of the Islamic Affairs Ministry’s office in the Asir region; and Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Ruwaitie director general of customs at Yanbu Port.
