German Embassy steps up Janadriyah efforts
The German Embassy, attached agencies and sponsoring companies visited on Monday the Janadriyah village where the festival will be held to ensure that their preparations are on track.
“We are stepping up our efforts to ensure that our pavilion will be one of a kind during the festival,” Michael Ohnmacht, deputy chief of mission and consul general, told Arab News on Monday.
The Janadriyah festival’s 30th edition will kick off on Feb. 4 and will run through Feb. 22, 2015.
Ohnmacht said that along with the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO), the “embassy and the sponsoring firms have ensured that our activities have been properly coordinated to come up with a pavilion that could be said to be one of a kind.”
“Germany is the special guest country at the prestigious festival this year which attracts visitors from all over the world. It’s definitely an honor for the Germans and Germany,” Ohnmacht said.
He added that through the German pavilion, Saudi nationals and other visitors will have a comprehensive view of German life and culture as well as its customs and traditions.
“Saudi visitors will learn more about Germany and experience the rich and unique diversity of our culture and tradition through our pavilion,” Ohnmacht said.
He added that the German participation in the annual festival is a fillip to the existing bilateral ties between the two countries.
“We’ve also been helping the Kingdom by training Saudi students in our universities in Germany to enable them to find employment in German firms after their graduation.
“Germany and Saudi Arabia also have the same stance on international issues such as the Palestinian problem and enjoy strong collaboration in other fields as well,” he said.
