The Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) plans to launch a four-week awareness campaign next month, which aims to increase the awareness of motorists regarding fuel consumption of their cars, local media said.

The campaign is primarily intended to focus on the importance of raising the level of energy efficiency in the land transport sector in order to promote positive change in common car driving behaviors, sabq.com online paper said.

The new energy rationalization drive comes to complement a similar SEEC program launched last May which sought to better acquaint the public with knowledge of how to rationalize power consumption in the use of air conditioners which consume over 70 percent of the total power consumption in the building sector, the paper said.

Similarly, the SEEC launched a thermal insulation campaign in October which stressed the importance and benefits of thermal insulation in buildings and the positive impact of using this technique, as well as the difference a house owner feels between the insulated and uninsulated buildings. The SEEC is using diverse media to convey its message to the pubic in more than 20 major cities of the Kingdom, notably satellite-based TV stations, print and electronic newspapers, radio stations, street billboards and social networking sites, the paper said.
