Appropriate qualifications must for change of profession
The Ministry of Interior has issued an order that government agencies must not allow expatriates to change their professions on their residence permits if they do not have the proper qualifications for their new posts.
They should also not be allowed to do this if their new positions do not fall in line with the business of their employers.
In a further development, the Interior Ministry’s new online service for expatriates to apply for visas for the wives and minor children comes into force this week. Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, second deputy premier and minister of interior, launched the service last week to save expatriates time and effort.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labor has urged employers to help ensure there is no visa trading in the country. The ministry recently introduced new draft legislation for public comment, which would oversee transfers of sponsorship.
It would place a limit on the number of workers companies can transfer over a year, with penalties for those failing to comply, said Tayseer Al-Mufrej, spokesman of the ministry recently.
