The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says nine air raids were conducted Monday in the Jabal al-Zawiya region in the northwestern province of Idlib.

The Local Coordination Committees reported several airstrikes in the area without giving a figure on casualties.

Syrian state TV said troops targeted “terrorist gangs” and killed and wounded many fighters in Idlib, in areas including Binnish and Sarmin. State media refers to rebels as terrorists.

Syrian rebels captured five government airmen after their helicopter crashed in a rebel-held area near Jabal al-Zawiya. They later shot dead one of them, according to videos posted online.
