Jazan to host key naval base
Prince Mohammed bin Salman, minister of defense and special adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, has ordered the construction of a naval base in Jazan, new buildings for the armed forces in Najran, and additional camps in both cities.
The minister also said that a study would be launched to design extra housing units in Jazan and Najran, and the expansion of Jazan Hospital, according to reports on Tuesday.
During his recent trip to the region, the minister met with top commanders and officials in the region to discuss ways to support military efforts and systems.
Prince Mohammed boarded a helicopter to Al-Khubah, where he inspected the Advanced Operations Center and discussed its activities, military plans and tactics, and the importance of upgrading the facility.
He also visited the site for tactical forces, rapid intervention forces of the 18th Brigade, the center for wireless reconnaissance, and Al-Lona drone fleet, which was recently upgraded with the latest technology.
The minister was greeted at King Abdullah Regional Airport by Army General Chief of Staff Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al-Binyan, the commander of the southern region forces, Maj. Gen. Mutlaq bin Alem Al-Ozima, commander of the Jazan Forces, Maj. Gen. Marei bin Salem Al-Shahrani, and other officials from the region.
He also visited the headquarters of Al-Wajeb Force in Om Al-Turath, where he held discussions with officials on major challenges and several initiatives to improve performance.
