Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Tuesday praised the kingdom’s security forces as the country leads a military coalition striking Houthi militias in the bordering nation of Yemen.

In an address at the palace in Riyadh to defense and interior ministry officials, as well as senior figures from the national and royal guards and the general intelligence department, the king said that Saudi Arabia is home to the most sacred sites of Islam, therefore “its internal and external stability and security are our responsibility.”

The Saudi king lauded the “forces who are defending our religion before anything else and who are defending the country of the two holy mosques.”

“Thank God, all of you at the military armed forces are performing your duties. You are the sons of this country and [thus] the most worthy of defending it,” King Salman said.

“Our country enjoys security and stability. We ask God to bless us with his grace and guide us to the right path and maintain national unity,” the king added.
