Six people arrested on suspicion of terrorism in Britain after Turkish authorities stopped a group crossing the border to Syria have been released without charge, police said Saturday.

“No evidence was uncovered to suggest any imminent threat to the communities of Rochdale or the UK,” police in Manchester, northwest England, said in a statement.

Four people were held at Manchester Airport on Wednesday, the day after one was arrested in Rochdale, near Manchester, and another at Birmingham Airport, in central England.

They were held in an investigation launched after Turkish authorities stopped nine people — five adults and four children — trying to cross into Syria last month.

The group was arrested on suspicion of trying to joining militants in Syria and deported back to Britain on Tuesday.
