King, Putin review key regional developments

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Monday held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “They discussed the latest regional and international developments and reviewed bilateral relations,” the SPA reported.

Russia had taken a favorable stand on the UN Security Council Resolution 2216 that slapped sanctions on Houthi rebels and backed the Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm. Moscow did not use its veto power to block the resolution. The UN vote was a big diplomatic victory for the Kingdom.

Also on Monday, King Salman received former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri at his Riyadh palace. Al-Hariri praised the Kingdom for its military to support the Lebanese Army.

Beirut received the first part of the $3 billion Saudi military aid on Monday.
