Education must: Crown prince
The strength of a nation and its ability to compete globally depends on the education of its youth at university level, according to Crown Prince Muqrin, deputy premier.
Opening a forum and exhibition on inventions at King Saud University (KSU) recently, Prince Muqrin said several countries around the world were developing knowledge economies by focusing on education, research and stimulating creativity and innovation.
He said the Kingdom is part of this global trend toward knowledge and innovation. The country’s leadership has wisely focused on the development of new technology to ensure sustainable growth by devising a national strategy for this purpose, he said.
He said KSU was the first university set up in the Kingdom and has a “great responsibility to produce graduates with creativity that can build a sustainable future for the Kingdom.”
KSU has already produced a significant number of patented inventions and world-leading research, he said. He thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for supporting KSU to become a top institution over the years, when he was governor of Riyadh.
