Haj Minister Bandar Hajjar has said the private sector is playing a crucial role in upgrading services to pilgrims and that his ministry is constantly monitoring the works.

The development and upgrading of the services for pilgrims require an effective partnership between the Ministry and private companies, he said.

The minister was speaking at a meeting for the development of the Haj and Umrah services 2015 at the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday.

Hajjar said the ministry and state has mobilized all its capabilities to take care of the pilgrims with efficiency.

The government established giant projects such as expansion of Makkah and Madinah mosques, Jamrat bridges, roads, tunnels and airports for pilgrims’ convenience. The opening of Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah is one such example, he said.

“The state has spent generously on developing the infrastructure to make the pilgrimage easy. To complement this effort, the relationship between the private sector and the state needs to be strong, the minister said.

Hajjar said the ministry is at the forefront of government plans for pilgrims and consistently follows up on the performance of companies and institutions.
