Aden’s deputy governor reveals Iranian Revolutionary Guards are fighting with Houthis.

The deputy governor of Aden’s governorate and president of the Popular Resistance Council said on Saturday that Iranian Revolutionary Guards are fighting alongside the Houthi militias as some were held captive by Resistance forces.

Nayef Al-Bakri told Saudi Arabia’s Al-Watan newspaper that dozens of Houthi militias were captured, with many backing down and joining the Resistance. He added that those were “tricked by the Houthis, seduced by money and made to believe they were engaged in jihad.”

“Among the captives, there are army leaders and high-ranking officers who will face justice at the right time,” Bakri was also quoted as saying.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister said on Saturday Tehran will not let regional powers jeopardize its security interests in Yemen, Tasnim news agency reported, in the strongest acknowledgement yet of Iranian involvement in the Arabian peninsula.

A coalition led by Saudi Arabia launched an air war on Yemen on March 26 to prevent the Houthis from taking the entire territory and to restore President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi’s authority.
