Fire claims two lives in Dammam
Two people were killed and the same number injured when a fire broke out in a four-story building in the Souk district of Dammam
The casualty could have been bigger, but thanks to the civil defense team which arrived quickly and rescued seven people.
A spokesperson for the Eastern Province Civil Defense team, Mansour Al-Dossari, said: “The fire began on the third floor, which was being used for storing plastic material. Our teams immediately evacuated the building and rescued seven people through the roof.”
He further said, “The incident resulted in the deaths of both a Yemeni and a Sudanese resident, in addition to the injuries experienced by a Saudi national and an Indian man.”
“Fourteen squad members participated in the rescue operation, with the assistance of six rescue squads and three stair-cars. An investigation is on to determine the causes of the fire and to estimate all the losses,” he said.
