Three drug smugglers executed
Three convicted Yemeni drug traffickers were beheaded Wednesday, bringing to 83 the number of executions this year.
The men — Eisa Ali Ahmed Hajri, Mohammed Ali Saifi and Majid Gasim Al-Ahdal — were convicted of trying to smuggle hashish into the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency quoted an Interior Ministry statement as saying.
They were executed in Jazan province which borders Yemen.
On Tuesday, Saudi citizen Rabie Al-Sai’ari, who had been convicted of trying to smuggle hashish into the country, was executed in Najran.
Eighty-seven people were executed last year. Drug trafficking, rape, murder, apostasy and armed robbery are punishable by death under the Kingdom’s law.
