Make Makkah beautiful city, says governor
Makkah deserves to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world because of its status in Islam, according to Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal.
Prince Khaled was speaking at a briefing session held by the Al-Balad Al-Ameen Development and Urban Regeneration Company on the development of various unplanned districts in the city.
During the meeting, he said officials must adhere to the deadlines set out under the Tenth Development Strategic Plan for the holy city.
He said the developments under way would help create a new face for the old city, which Allah has blessed with the Kaaba. In addition, Makkah was where the Prophet (peace be upon him) was born, and where he received revelation, said Prince Khaled.
“It is our duty while we are living beside this great Ancient House to do everything we can to make Makkah the most beautiful city in the whole world. We must dedicate ourselves to develop, improve and maximize its beauty because it is a sacred city,” he said.
The issue of unplanned districts in Makkah was the first thing that the late King Abdullah asked him to address when he was appointed governor, said Prince Khaled. “This great project entrusted to me by a great man will address many issues in the holy city, not the least developing it, correcting the status of residents in the unplanned districts, and then embarking on the social and economic development of this great city,” he said.
“The work has already begun within the framework of the Tenth Development Strategic Plan. We are now in the sixth year of the plan and with four years to go, the projects must not end later than 1440AH (2019),” he said.
