Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Makkah governor and adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, signed a deal Wednesday with Maher bin Saleh Jamal, chairman of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for the developmental integration of the region.

The governor asserted that the initiative of the developmental integration program is in no way linked with falling oil prices or Operation Decisive Storm, or any other reason for that matter.

“It stems from my belief to follow up the most successful approaches practiced all over the world. We should never shy away from using all international experiences that have brought about this cultural, scientific and economic development progress. We must innovate and be creative,” said Prince Khaled.

“After I was briefed on the project and listened to a full analysis of it I really want to thank all those contributed to this great project. We need action, not just talk, to revive the pace of development in this region. All over the world there is a big race to complete the largest projects in the shortest period possible. Here, in this blessed country with Islam, we should work and act in accordance with our Islamic values … so that our ways and means will be one of the most successful approaches in governing and managing our economy and culture, and be fair and just in our leadership of the nation,” he added.

Jamal said the governor signed the contract to put the Kingdom on the list of internationally advanced economies through integration and sustainable development.

He said the contract, signed between the MCCI and the Makkah governor’s office, was part of the strategic plan for the future development and rapid growth of the economy of the country and region under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.

Jamal said this marked the care and diligence for all development programs implemented by the government, and highlights progress in the construction process and the advancement of human development.

Jamal said the development of the people is the development of the country, which stands as evidence of significant improvements the Kingdom has witnessed in various sectors. This partnership is the culmination of the efforts devoted by the state to upgrade the lives of citizens and develop the country with a scientific approach according to international standards in all segments.

He stressed that the MCCI will play a fundamental role in supporting the development integration project of the governor’s office in the region.

“The private sector is a genuine partner in development, and the MCCI will do everything to achieve the development vision and plan with the advice of Prince Khaled, whose vision and support is helping to upgrade the region,” he said.

He further said the governor created a center to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development through the involvement of chambers of commerce, private individuals and the government.
