Shoura lauds people for maintaining unity

Shoura Council

The Shoura Council denounced the terrorist act committed by a citizen in an Al-Qadeeh mosque in Qatif, which resulted in the death of 21 worshippers and injuries to over 100.

In a statement at its 41st ordinary session, chaired by Amin Al-Jaafri, the council expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and asked Allah Almighty to bestow quick recovery to the injured.

“This cowardly terrorist act, which has saddened the hearts of all people, was carried out by those … who have sold themselves to the devil and whose attitudes were betting on the enemies of Islam,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the house lauded the national spirit shown by the sons of Al-Qadeeh and Qatif. The house felt that the perpetrators wanted to create a rift between sects, but instead the incident brought people together under one umbrella on a common understanding against terrorist actions.

Council members appreciated the stance of scholars and citizens across the Kingdom over their denouncement of this terrorist act and their adherence to national unity.

They also appreciated the quick response of security forces to the incident and the timely report of the details of the terrorist act which, they said, contributed a great deal to eliminating malicious rumors and demonstrated the vigilance of security forces.

The council expressed full support for all measures taken by the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman in the fight against and eradication of terrorism in a way that will preserve security and stability of the Kingdom, and protect the Saudi youth from deviant ideas.
