An official source at the Ministry of Health said the absence of necessary infrastructure in the private health sector has made it impossible to provide services in most remote areas.

Recent reports also cited the impossibility of privatization of government hospitals in remote provinces to provide such services; lack of presence of private service providers in remote areas; and lack of sufficient assessments and studies on the issue.

He said it is impossible to privatize public hospitals in more remote provinces because the private sector prioritizes profitability above all else. He said the need for primary health care in the villages would be the duty of the government, in turn making it more difficult to apply medical insurance because that that entails more spending on insurance and operating these health centers.

He said the ministry cannot rush the application of insurance for citizens in light of lacking health services and infrastructure in many areas, as “insurance policies would become just a paper carried by citizens without any true benefit."

It should be noted that the previously issued Royal Decree calls for not rushing the application of medical insurance until the issue is adequately and comprehensively studied so that citizens can enjoy access to the best quality of services.
