Man posing as cop handcuffs meat seller

Crime

A young man posing as a policeman handcuffed a meat seller, took his picture and put it on social media after he refused to sell him meat at the price he demanded.

The incident happened at a shop at Al-Sedeen in Sayyadah Bani Malik, 150 km south of Taif, the police told local media, adding that a hunt has been launched for the suspect.

“The young man went to the extent of putting a message along with the photograph of the meat seller, an Arab national, that he was arrested because he sold donkey’s meat while claiming that it was beef or camel meat.”

The meat seller was quoted as saying that the young man entered his shop and ordered 3 kilos of meat. When he started preparing the order, the young man started bargaining with him. When the seller refused to reduce the price, the young man said he was a policeman.

He then took out handcuffs from his pocket, tied the butcher and took his photograph with his mobile phone.

Although the offender said he would publish the photo on social media only if the shopkeeper “acted smart,” he actually posted it even as his victim preferred to remain silent after the incident. This forced the meat seller to approach the police at Haddad Bani Malik center.

Later, the shopkeeper too posted a video on social media with factual details about the incident to ward off the false accusation against him.
