Al-Margab Saudi TV will broadcast a program, “Al-Khair Yagmana” (Gathering for Happiness), beginning Sunday to raise funds for charity during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Prominent individuals will discuss various topics on Ramadan. They’re also expected to encourage individuals to donate for the needy,” said Mohsin Shaikh Al-Hassan, program host. The program will be aired from 1 a.m to 2 a.m. and on four days a week — Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

“At least three individuals have donated sheep as Eid gift and we call it ‘Teli.’ Some have donated rice, sugar and boxes of dates,” said Al-Hassan, who’s also an Islamic scholar.

He said that letters have been sent to 20 individuals known for their humanitarian activities and who are expected to donate. The donations came after Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh’s appeal, he said.

Al-Hasan said that on the first night of the TV program, Prince Naif Al-Ghunayan, media and public relations head of Islamic Mohammed bin Saud University, will speak on the role of citizens in assisting needy people.

Islamic scholar Abu Malik will discuss religion, like focusing on the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and encourage people to donate.

He said that Sheikh Abdul Mohsen, who has allowed the use of his Al Hokair Land Theater for the program recording, will also grace the event and encourage people to pitch in for a noble cause like this.
