Prince Faisal bin Salman, governor of Madinah and chairperson of the board of directors of the Takaful Welfare Society for Orphan Care in Madinah, has inaugurated a project to reconstruct houses of orphans.

According to the Takaful program, 195 residential units will be built for families of orphans in Madinah and its villages over a period three years and 300 houses will be repaired.

The project will cost around SR40 million. It is estimated that one unit will cost around SR180,000 for construction and SR20,000 for repairs.

The society announced the Madinah Al Munawwara Award for Social Responsibility under the auspices of Prince Faisal bin Salman.

The award aims to support best projects for orphans, encouraging social institutions and their people to serve orphans and support research to help them, besides honoring institutions and people for their welfare work toward orphans.

The prince announced SR1 million donation for the Takaful program. There were also other announcements of donations which brought the total to SR30.9 million.

The governor also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the National Commercial Bank for implementation of the Al-Ahli program for orphan care, and 1,001 orphans will benefit from SR13 million.

Prince Faisal thanked the businessmen and people for their support to the programs and the media campaign.

On behalf of the board of directors of the society, Abdul Mohsin Al-Harbi, secretary general of the society, lauded the role and support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to charity works.

He expressed his gratitude to the governor for his support to the noble cause. “Prince Faisal has always been a major supporter of welfare works in all areas.”

Al-Harbi also appreciated the people who have extended their support to the cause.

The welfare society takes care of more than 8,000 orphans, both boys and girls, and their mothers, including support for living, health and education.
