50,000 take part in health awareness drive
The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has launched a special health awareness campaign to provide the public with information on various medical issues including drug addiction and dental problems.
The eight-day Fanar SABIC for Health Program has been inundated with about 50,000 visitors since Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar opened the event on Sept. 9 in Al-Jazeera District near Exit 16 in Riyadh.
One of the main features of the event is “The Cave,” a show which demonstrates how a person becomes addicted to drugs bought from dealers on the streets, in cafes and at schools.
There is also a section that shows how the police deal with dealers, including arrests and interrogation techniques. Another part demonstrates how the Border Guard tackles drug smugglers trying to cross the country’s borders.
In addition, SABIC has sections showing how addicted people are provided treatment at rehabilitation centers. Visitors are also able to see how the Saudi Customs Department operates.
The program also has other activities, including a theater for people to watch plays and attend lectures. They can also have dental and other medical checkups.
The event is part of the company’s social responsibility programs and is a reflection of its commitment toward the country.
