Ensure safety during Haj: Madinah governor

In light of the inclement weather conditions, Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman directed a team of Civil Defense specialists to ensure that proper safety measures are taken at the Prophet’s Mosque expansion project in Madinah.

The instructions were given during a discussion which took place between the prince and Lt. Gen. Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Amr, Director General of Civil Defense in Madinah this week.

Al-Amr affirmed the integration of efforts of all government agencies involved in the implementation of Civil Defense emergency response plans during this year’s Haj season to provide the highest levels of safety for pilgrims during their stay in the holy sites.

The director general of Civil Defense praised the preparations of Civil Defense in Al-Madinah region to maintain the safety of visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque during this year’s Haj season, which confirms its readiness to deal with all potential risks and accidents.

Al-Amr expressed his thanks to the governor of Al-Madinah region for supporting the preparations of the region’s Civil Defense department. He also thanked the director and personnel of Civil Defense in the region for their efforts in giving all care for the pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque.

During the meeting, the governor was briefed on Civil Defense’s efforts and activities to ensure the application of safety requirements during the Haj season within the framework of services provided to pilgrims, to facilitate the performance of Haj rituals easily and conveniently.

Al-Amr explained that the General Directorate of Civil Defense has prepared for this year’s Haj season with more than 17,600 Civil Defense personnel, backed by more than 3,800 items of equipment, along many seasonal centers and teams to maintain the safety of pilgrims at all sea, air and land ports. He said that there is an existing cooperation and coordination between the Civil Defense, public security, the Health Ministry and the Saudi Red Crescent, to reduce the risk of overcrowding and stampedes of pilgrims at specific locations through a specific plan.
