Al-Zahrani brothers held on a tip-off from father
Terrorist brothers Ahmed and Mohammed, the sons of Saeed Al-Zahrani, were trained for two months at a Daesh camp in Raqqa on how to use weapons and explosives before returning to the Kingdom to execute one of the organization’s plans inside the country, sources said.
The brothers were provided large amounts of money, in addition to weapons, explosives and hand grenades from one of organization’s affiliates in the Kingdom, in coordination with leaders of Daesh in Syria, in order to blow up a number of mosques and target security personnel and key facilities.
Sources revealed that the two young men, who are university students, were recruited over the Internet by a Saudi member, who is the son of a well-known preacher, belonging to Daesh abroad. They connected with him during his stay in Saudi Arabia, and he managed to persuade them that Daesh’s work in the Kingdom is a “mandatory religious duty.”
The two young men are the sons of a judge working at the Ministry of Justice, and joined the organization without his permission. Other sources revealed their father tried to persuade them to return to the Kingdom, having received a telephone call from one of them informing him they had arrived at one of the organization’s sites in Syria. They rejected his pleas, forcing him to report them to Saudi security authorities which sent their information to border controls at airports and entry points.
However, security authorities did not detain them on their return to the Kingdom, but let them enter in order to monitor their movements and contacts. They were arrested Wednesday in the Monsah neighborhood of eastern Riyadh.
