For some domestics, Haj is a big reward
Many Muslim foreigners, especially domestic workers, want to work in the Kingdom for a number of reasons. One of the most important is their proximity to the holy places and the opportunity to perform Haj.
Indeed, performing Haj is the dream of many despite the obstacles they face, particularly the financial ones. With this in mind, many Saudi families honor these domestic workers by facilitating their Haj performance and fully or partially paying for it.
Aminah, a domestic worker, has given 10 years of honesty and dedication to her employer who paid the Haj costs so that Aminah could fulfill her dream.
A Pakistani driver, Amir, worked for a Saudi family for 25 years in Dammam. He had to return to his country after a death in the family. He suffered considerable financial losses after a severe earthquake destroyed his hometown. The Saudi family that he had worked for contacted him, sent him a sum of money and brought him for Haj.
Amir had always dreamt of performing Haj with his family, and his Saudi employers were able to help him as a reward for his faithful work over the years.
Indonesian Fatimah worked for 15 years serving her employer and the two of them had a good relationship.
After the death of the employer, it was found that she had left instructions for Fatimah to be given money for Haj and also money to enable her to marry.
A Saudi who employs a number of women said: “I have a number of Filipino female workers. One of them recently converted to Islam. She always worked hard, so I rewarded her by paying the cost of her Haj.”
