Illegal pilgrims claim they are using Al-Hada-Al-Kar highway to sneak into Makkah for Haj.

They revealed to a local paper that transporters drop off violating pilgrims before Al-Kar checkpoint, leaving them to climb the mountains close to the Ramada Hotel until they meet together along Al-Hada Road close to Al-Halwani Bridge. They are then transferred along Al-Hada Road until the drop-off point close to the fuel station at the bottom of Al-Kar mountain.

Some travel on the dirt road in the middle of the valley and behind the mountains, while others try to pass along the main road until Ain Zubaida; they are dropped inside the neighborhood to find their way on foot to Arafat, they said.

The trip costs SR500 per person on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, but SR300 on the 8th. Prices increase to as much as SR1,000 depending on the numbers of people and cars.

Meanwhile, security patrols in Jeddah arrested nearly 20 people — drivers and pilgrims — during six hours at the Kilo 3 stop in Makkah and the group transport area. Ten vehicles were also seized, while pilgrims without permits were transferred to the Department of Expatriates for further action.
