The Traffic Department in the Eastern Province (EP) stepped up its campaign to control offenders who deliberately grab parking places allocated for the disabled.

This campaign resulted in a total of 104 irregularities within five days.

The department planned to continue its intensified campaign to prevent this phenomenon. The penalty of such practices is ten days imprisonment or a SR500 fine.

In this regard, one of the disabled spoke about the parking problems he faces daily in the allocated parking lots.

He said: “Disabled people face many problems in their daily life due to unequal opportunities and improper thinking of some people.”

He said that some people put their cars in the parking allocated for the disabled although there are signs stating the restriction, as if they do not believe in our right to live a decent life.

He thanked the EP Traffic Department for its intensified campaign that aims to prevent this infringement of the rights of the disabled, demanding to strictly punish all violators.
