The municipality of Makkah has made sure that all pilgrims are provided with enough food and water and other needs during the five or six days that they will be performing Haj.

“The municipality has designated 643 locations in Mina as well as in Arafat and Muzdalifa where the pilgrims could get food or water and other services,” according to a statement.

These locations in Mina include 19 bakeries, 234 general stores, 85 specialized stalls, and 100 water coolers. There are also 205 stalls in Arafat and Muzdalifah.

Refrigerators have also been made available for perishable food products. There are also barber’s chairs in various locations around the Jamarat Bridge in the regions of Sidqi and Almaasam where the pilgrims could have their hair cut.

The services mentioned have been provided with due consideration to the safety of the pilgrims while they are performing their Islamic duties in coordination with religious authorities.

“A center for municipal services has also been set up in Mina to monitor hygiene and sanitation among the pilgrims,” the statement added.

Environmental engineers and supervisors have also been deployed around the clock to prevent the proliferation of street vendors and cooking to ensure the delivery of useful and quality service to the pilgrims.

“These services have been provided to make the pilgrims’ Haj performance as convenient and as easy as possible,” the statement added.

One reason why the municipality is keen in rendering good and quality services to the pilgrims in coordination with competent authorities is to avoid a negative evaluation at the end of the Haj season.
