Saudi female nurse Areej Al-Qahtani who attended to an injured man during a shooting at Al-Riyadh Mall Wednesday was rewarded with a job offer from both the Ministry of Health and the National Guard.

According to an online report, Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, minister of National Guard, issued an order for the appointment of Al-Qahtani, who is jobless, at the health department in the ministry.

Responding to the gesture of Prince Miteb, Al-Qahtani said that the prince is known to urge women to be instrumental in the Saudi society and also acknowledged his support to the sons and daughters of the nation in all fields.

Bandar Al-Kanawi, executive director general of health affairs at the ministry, said that the nurse deserved recognition for her bravery and humanitarian act.

Earlier in an interview with a local TV channel, the nurse said that she graduated from a private health college but could not pass the health specialties test. That did not deter her, however, from practicing her profession on that fateful day.

Meanwhile, authorities have arrested five people for causing havoc and chaos among holidaymakers during the Eid Al-Adha.
