Kingdom, Russia set to promote strategic cooperation
Russia and Saudi Arabia plan to discuss bilateral cooperation during their Joint Commission meeting scheduled for the end of October, Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak said in a statement on Friday.
Novak’s statement given to Russian reporters said both countries will discuss joint projects, and the development of trade and economic cooperation in all sectors, including energy.
Russian newspaper Sputnik in a report on Saturday quoted Saudi Ambassador to Russia Abdul Rahman Al-Rassi as saying that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman plans to visit Russia “very soon” and that Riyadh is counting on the establishment of strategic cooperation with Moscow, including in the field of security.
Relationships between Riyadh and Moscow saw a significant recovery this year, culminating in a visit by Deputy Crown Prince and Defense Minister Mohammed bin Salman to Moscow, where he held talks with President Vladimir Putin.
It was previously announced on the sidelines of the visit that King Salman had earlier accepted an invitation from Putin to visit Russia.
