Naked electric wires threat to residents

Naked electric wires

The residents of Al-Jamia district in Jeddah have complained of naked wires on the roads.

An online newspaper has expressed a fear that members of the public, including children, were at risk of electrocution from uncovered live wires.

The newspaper said it had found five live cables and an open electrical cabinet on a side road. The connections of the electricity cabinet were open on the road in an area where children regularly walk and play.

Samer Al-Jahdali, a resident, said that negligence in following electrical safety rules was a danger to the public, especially children who do not understand the dangers of exposed live wires.

Aquil Al-Jameeli said that the situation with the live wires was being ignored by the electricity company and that the problem had not been addressed for a period of five months.

Abdullah Ashur said that the electric company had been informed of the problem and danger but that no action had been taken.
